Acne Rosacea

What is it and how can I treat it?

Acne rosacea, commonly known as rosacea, is a skin condition which affects millions of people worldwide. It is characterized by redness, swelling, and bumps on the face, particularly on the cheeks, nose, chin, and forehead.
In some cases, it can also affect the eyes, leading to dryness, redness, and a gritty sensation.
While the exact cause of rosacea is not known, it is believed to be linked to genetics and environmental factors. Fortunately, there are many treatment options available for rosacea, including topical creams, antibiotics, and lifestyle changes.

Symptoms of Rosacea

Facial Redness
This may begin occasionally, but then deveop over time to persistent redness may for longer periods. It is often accompanied by a sense of tingling or burning, and the reddened skin may turn rough or scaly.

Rash
Areas of facial redness can develop red or pus-filled bumps and pimples that resemble acne, hence the name acne rosacea.

Visible Blood Vessels
These typically appear as thin red lines on the cheeks and nose.

Skin Thickening
The skin may thicken, especially on the nose, giving the nose an enlarged and bulbous appearance. This is one of the more severe symptoms, and it mostly affects men.

Eye Irritation
In what is termed ocular rosacea, the eyes become sore, red, itchy, watery, or dry. The eyelids may swell and become red at the base of the eyelashes.

It is important to see a health care provider if you have eye symptoms because if left untreated, eye damage and loss of vision can result.

Sometimes rosacea follows a progression, going from temporary flushing of the nose and cheeks, to longer lasting flushing, then to the appearance of a rash and small blood vessels beneath the skin. If left untreated, the skin may thicken and enlarge, leading to firm, red bumps, especially on the nose (NIH, 2022).

Treatment

Grahams Natural Rosacea Cream is a specially formulated cream designed to target and assist the symptoms of rosacea.
It contains a blend of natural ingredients, including manuka honey, aloe vera, and calendula, which work together to soothe inflammation and redness, increase healing, and hydrate the skin.
The cream is gentle enough for daily use and can be applied directly to the affected areas.

One of the key benefits of Grahams Natural Rosacea Cream is that it is free from harsh chemicals and synthetic fragrances. Many commercial skincare products contain ingredients that can exacerbate rosacea symptoms, such as alcohol, sulfates, and fragrances. These ingredients can strip the skin of its natural oils, leading to dryness, irritation, and inflammation.

By using a natural, gentle cream like Grahams Natural Rosacea Cream, you can avoid these harsh ingredients and provide your skin with the nourishment it needs to heal.

Another benefit of Grahams Natural Rosacea Cream is that it contains manuka honey, which has been clinically proven to have antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties.
Manuka honey is a type of honey that is produced in New Zealand and Australia and is derived from the nectar of the manuka tree.
It has been used for centuries for its medicinal properties, and recent research has shown that it may be effective in treating a variety of skin conditions, including rosacea.
Manuka honey has been shown to reduce inflammation, promote wound healing, and inhibit the growth of bacteria on the skin.

In addition to the Rosacea Cream, Grahams Natural also has a rosacea targeted wash called Anti Redness Wash

This wash is specificially targeted to cleanse the pores of rosacea affected skin, ensuring to soothe and hydrate them, rather than dry and irritate them like many other products do.

It is a fragrance and soap free wash, so even the most sensitive of skin will find comfort in it.

Plus, it's an excellent natural makeup remover too!

In addition to using topical creams and gels, there are many lifestyle changes that can be helpful for those with rosacea. Some of these include avoiding triggers such as spicy foods, alcohol, and sun exposure, as well as using gentle, fragrance-free skincare products.

In conclusion, it is always recommended to consult your local GP when choosing an appropriate skin regime for your skin condition. With the help of your GP and Grahams Natural, you can manage your rosacea and symptoms easily and effectively.
